Travel tips & FAQ
Everything first-time visitors from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Australia ask us.
Money
The currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND). Cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants; carry cash for markets and tips. ATMs are widely available in Hanoi.
Getting around
We handle all transfers by private car, limousine van or shuttle. In Hanoi, ride-hailing apps such as Grab are cheap and reliable.
Connectivity
Buy a tourist eSIM or SIM at the airport. Wi-Fi is common in hotels and cafes.
Respect & etiquette
Dress modestly at temples and pagodas, ask before photographing people in villages, and remove shoes when entering homes.
Weather & clothing
Hanoi can be humid in summer and surprisingly chilly in January. Sapa is 5–10°C cooler than Hanoi all year.
Health & safety
Northern Vietnam is generally very safe. Bring travel insurance, sunscreen and any personal medication.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit Vietnam?
Rules change, so always confirm on the official portal (evisa.gov.vn) before you book. Travellers from several ASEAN countries have enjoyed visa-free short stays, while Australian passport holders typically apply for an e-visa online. We can help you check what applies to you.
What is the best time to visit Northern Vietnam?
October to April suits Hanoi and Ha Long Bay (cool, dry, clear). Sapa is at its best in March–May (green terraces) and September–October (golden rice). Winter in the mountains is cold, so bring layers.
Is halal food available?
Yes. On our programmes we use a trusted halal restaurant in Hanoi and can arrange halal or vegetarian meals elsewhere. Please tell us your dietary needs when you enquire.
How do I pay and how do I book?
Send us an enquiry (WhatsApp is fastest) and we will reply with a written quotation. Payment details are confirmed in that quotation. Online booking and payment are coming soon.
Can you customise a trip?
Absolutely. Most guests start from one of our itineraries and adjust the pace, hotels, activities or length. Families, couples, groups and Muslim travellers are all welcome.
How do I get to Hanoi?
Direct flights serve Hanoi (Noi Bai, HAN) from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila and other regional hubs, and from Australia via direct or connecting services. We meet you at the airport.
What should I pack?
Light, breathable clothes for Hanoi; comfortable walking shoes for Sapa and Ninh Binh; a light jacket for Ha Long evenings; and a warm layer and rain jacket for the mountains.
Are the prices final?
Listed prices are 'from' prices per person based on twin-sharing in boutique hotels. The final price depends on season, group size, hotel level and options; we always send a written quotation first.
